Gerald (“Jerry”) Delone Mitchell, 76 of Wanatah, IN, passed away Monday, October 6, 2025. He was born August 11, 1949, in Hammond to the late Clifford and Alpha (Henson) Mitchell. Jerry made his career as a Diesel Mechanic and worked for Guess Freightways from 1996 through 2022 when he retired. Jerry enjoyed photography, cooking, gardening and was always smiling. Jerry will be dearly missed.
Jerry is survived by his sister, Margaret Spott; along with his children, Laura (Hans) Fassoth, Renee Mitchell, Amy Lopez; grandchildren, Alyssa Fassoth, Kaitlyn Fassoth, Cody Gipson, Chazz Vandiver, Chloe Ramsey, Amber Ramsey, James Ramsey; great grandchildren, Xavi, Gerrard, Olivia and Nixi. Surpassed in death by his brothers, James William Mitchell and Clifford Wayne Mitchell.
A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held at a later date.
