Gloria J. Runion, 89 formerly of Wheeler, passed away Thursday, December 8, 2022. She was born January 3, 1933 in Elwood, Indiana the daughter of Cecil Banta and Violet (Brown) Banta Ferguson, and was raised by her grandmother, Margaret Brown. Gloria was a member of the American Legion Post 260 Auxiliary and enjoyed spending time at the Banta Senior Center. She enjoyed baking, cooking, bingo, and loved spending time with family.
On September 16, 1951 in Elwood, IN, Gloria married John Runion who preceded her in death in 1997. She is survived by her daughters, Peggy (Michael) Beaver and Barb Piazza; grandchildren, Gale and Brian Monnier, Matthew Beaver, and Heather Schulz; great grandchildren, Sapphire Monnier and Calder and Genevieve Schulz; and her brother, Francis Naylor. She was also preceded in death by her parents; sons, Mickey and Steve; and brothers, Walter and Roy Naylor.
Visitation will be held Friday, December 16, 2022 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Moeller Funeral Home 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso, with a Funeral Service beginning at 12:00 PM. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the Alzheimer’s Association.
