Gregory (Skip) Paul Breitzke Sr., 74 of Kouts and formerly of Hobart, IN, entered into eternal rest with his Lord and Savior on December 31, 2024. He was born on January 20, 1950 in Valparaiso, IN to Louis and Virginia (Tidey) Breitzke. Greg proudly served in the United States Army in the Vietnam War in the 169th Engineer Battalion - Bravo Company, for two tours and made his career continuing to serve his country and community from Patrolman to Detective Sergeant for the Hobart Police Department for 21 years before retirement. He was a John Deere and Harley-Davidson enthusiast as well as a proud member of the NRA and huge supporter of the Wounded Warriors. He was proud of his family and you could tell his love for them ran deep. His patriotism, dedication, selfless nature, and impact on his community will not soon be forgotten.
On January 31, 2012 in Valparaiso, Greg married Bambi Gardner, who survives, along with sons, Gregory (Jenene) Breitzke Jr. of Kouts, IN, Matthew (Lindsey) Breitzke of Broken Arrow, OK, and Mark Gardner of Cedar Lake, IN; 7 grandchildren: Travis, Cassie, Collin, Jace and Stella Breitzke, and Liam and Pierce Gardner; brothers, Stephen (Linda) Breitzke and Michael (Cathy) Breitzke; beloved dog, Sophie; and many loving nieces, nephews, other extended family, and friends. Greg is preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Virginia Breitzke; his wife, Linda (Wells) Breitzke; and brother, Randy Breitzke.
A Celebration of Life to be announced at a later date. Private interment to take place at Graceland Cemetery in Kouts in the summer of 2025. Memorial donations can be made in his honor to the Wounded Warriors Project.
