Gregory “Rocky” Morse, 74 of Valparaiso, IN, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, November 9, 2025. He was born May 15, 1951, in Michigan City, IN, to the late Carl James Morse and Dolores Martha (Saya) Morse. Greg graduated from Elston High School in Michigan City in 1969. He went on to a career in the shoe business as Regional Manager with Shoe Carnival. Greg was very well respected in his career and mentored many who credit him with their success. He attended First United Methodist Church of Valparaiso, enjoyed traveling with his wife and their best friends, Jack and Jill, and cheering for the Chicago Cubs, Bears, and Bulls. Greg also loved spending time with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren. He was a man who believed that if you were going to do something, you should do your best. Greg will be remembered as a great man, and a loyal friend with a poet’s heart. He will be deeply missed.

On March 6, 1971, in Michigan City, Greg married the love of his life, Martha Newby, who survives, along with their children: Jessica (Brant) Moustis of Valparaiso, and Jeremy (Catherine) Morse of Ann Arbor, MI; 6 grandchildren: Zachary, Luke, and Amelia Moustis, and Frederick, Theodore, and Gideon Morse; siblings: Carla Yoder, and James (Sally) Morse; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Alan (Joyce) Morse; and brother-in-law, Robert Yoder.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso. The memorial service will begin on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of Valparaiso, 103 Franklin St., Valparaiso, with additional visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Greg’s name to the First United Methodist Church of Valparaiso or VNA Hospice NWI.

I was hired by Greg in 1998. Although he was 10 years older than me, I always consider having a father figure in my life. My love goes out to his entire family. He truly was a great man.
