Irene E. Krausbeck, 79, of Valparaiso passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, March 10, 2022. She was born March 19, 1942, in Gary, IN to Ray & Gladys (Wylie) Jamieson, graduated from Tefft High School, and received a B.S. and master’s degree in Business Education from Indiana State University. Irene’s teaching career took her to Crown Point High School, Penn High School in South Bend, Ivy Tech – Valparaiso, Michigan City High Schools and Bishop Noll Academy - Hammond over the span of 40 years specializing in Business Education, Bookkeeping and Keyboarding.
Irene was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church in Valparaiso where she had served as Sunday school superintendent. She had also served as president for the Valparaiso AAUW and PTO.
On July 13, 1974, she married John Paul Krausbeck who preceded her in death in 2018. Survivors include their children; Lisa Camp of Tennessee, Susan Krausbeck of Valparaiso, Lois (Jessica) Rose-Krausbeck of Valparaiso, James Krausbeck of Valparaiso, sisters, Rachel Jamieson, Anita Franz, Gladys Griffin & Essie Garpow, grandchildren; Amelia Mears, Nathan Koch & Erin Koch, and great-grandchildren; Chloe & Mason. She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Kathleen Krausbeck in 1984, son-in-law, John Camp in 2012, and 6 brothers & 4 sisters.
A memorial gathering will be planned for later this summer. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association.
