Irene Mae Claussen, 94 of Kouts, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, July 14, 2023. She was born September 30, 1928, in Lucerne, IN to Noble and Georgia (Pufahl) Beck. Irene graduated from Kouts High School in 1946 with her husband to be, Richard H. Claussen. Richard preceded her in death in 2017. Irene and Richard owned and operated the Kouts Floral Shop for 13 years.
Richard and Irene were married for 70 years and are survived by 4 children: Curtis (Donna) Claussen of Kouts, Dennis (Bonny) Claussen of Florida, Vicki Lush, and Cindy Holt of Kouts; 8 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren; sister, Clara Cooper; and brother, William Beck. She was preceded in death by her parents; infant granddaughter, Jami; and sisters: Betty Reinke, Fern Theis, Cordelia Ruth Beck, and Mary Albertson.
A Memorial Service will be held on August 5, 2023 at 3:00 PM at St. Paul Lutheran Church 507 S. Rose Street, Kouts. Memorial donations may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Kouts.
