James Allen Singleton, 82 of Valparaiso, passed away Monday, January 3, 2022. He was born August 5, 1939 in Lowell to Fay and Sara Irene (Trump) Singleton. Jim proudly served in the United States Army and was stationed in Korea during peacetime. Jim made his career as a Lineman and Cable Locator with Indiana Bell and AT&T before his retirement in 1993. He was an active member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Hebron, and had taught Sunday School and Awana. Jim had previously served as a Boy Scouts Leader and was a proud Master Gardener. He loved the outdoors, fishing, gardening, traveling, and oil painting. Most of all though, Jim loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be remembered for his caring nature, and his friendly and outgoing personality. Jim was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather who will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

On May 7, 1966 in Lowell, Jim married the love of his life, Carol Hoffman, who survives, along with their children: Lynnette (George) Kovach of Hebron, Jeff (Nicole Tabloff) Singleton of Skokie, IL, Melissa (Mike Haines) Singleton of Valparaiso; grandchildren: George and Coty Kovach, Raven and Lilly Singleton, Abigail, Michael, Ella, and Connor Haines; and siblings: Marjorie Bushing, Jerry (Martha) Singleton, Sharon Johnson, and Janice (Bill) Hamm. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Norma (Niles) Smith, Jack (first wife, Nadine, second wife, Juanita) Singleton, Joyce Singleton; and an infant grandson, Sheldon Kovach.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 769 W. 800 S., Hebron, IN. The visitation will be held from 10:00 am – 11:00 am, with the memorial service beginning at 11:00 am.
