James R. Hall, 82, of Valparaiso passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2026. He was born June 18, 1943, in Flint, Michigan to Floyd & Vera (Lockwood) Hall. Jim served proudly with the U.S. Army where he was trained and worked as a dental hygienist. His easy-going manner and playful sense of humor endeared him to nearly everyone who ever crossed paths with him.  He enjoyed having a nearly constant stream of music set the rhythm of his life, especially the country tunes.  And, his regular trips to the Porter County Airport to share in the excitement of take-offs and landings developed friendships with staff and airplane enthusiasts that still endure.

On December 19, 1961, he married Marie White who preceded him in death on November 15, 2022. Survivors include their children: Darlene (Robert) Morgan of Michigan, Sherry Washauer of Valparaiso, Brenda (George Luke) Kish of Hobart, Ron Hall of Valparaiso, Becky (Chris Hayes) Pursche of Valparaiso & Jimmy Hall of Valparaiso, his brother, Bob Hall of Michigan and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren & friends. He was also preceded in death by his parents, sister, Betty and two grandsons: Dakota Hall & Christian Hayes.

Following cremation at Angelcrest Crematory a private family ceremony will be held with military honors prior to burial at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Michigan.
