James Steven Coros, 67, passed away peacefully at home on January 15, 2026, in Saxon, Wisconsin, following a four and half month battle of NK T Cell lymphoma. He was surrounded by his wife and children.
Jim was born in Gary, Indiana, to the late Mary and James Coros. He was a graduate of Valparaiso High School in 1976. Jim worked for the Grand Trunk Railroad for two years before being hired at Mittel (Inland) Steel where he retired after 41 years. Together with his wife, they achieved their lifelong dream of moving to northern Wisconsin. Jim was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish, mushroom hunt, garden and bee keep. Jim was a very well-liked and respected man, known for his kindness, easygoing nature, and great sense of humor. He never met a stranger and had a way of making people feel welcome. Jim will truly be missed by his family and friends.
Jim is preceded in death by his mother, Mary (Zaharias) Coros; and father, James N. Coros. He is survived by his wife, Denise (McGlothlen) Coros; children: Christina Coros of Saxon, WI, James Coros of Otis, IN, and Mary Coros of Saxon, WI; brothers, Nick (Linda) Coros of Noblesville, IN and John Coros of Valparaiso, IN; including four godchildren, many nieces, and many nephews.
Jim is a member of St. Iakovos Greek Orthodox Church in Valparaiso, Indiana and St. Simons Orthodox Church, in Ironwood, Michigan.
A visitation will be held on Friday, January 23, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Road, Valparaiso, IN, with a Trisagion Service beginning at 6:30 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at St. Iakovos Greek Orthodox Church, 36 W. 700 N., Valparaiso, IN. Burial to follow at Graceland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Iakovos Greek Orthodox Church, 36 W. 700 N., Valparaiso, IN 46385, or Philoxenia Charities, 703 W. Center Street, Rochester, MN 55902.

I moved to Indiana in 2010 after the mill in South Carolina closed, Jimmie C as we called him was one of the first people I worked with, he was one of the nicest person I've ever met. I retired n 2018 and moved back home, We kept in touch through Facebook being Packers fans. I will truly miss him. -Carlton J McCall
