Jan Lee Lenburg, age 78 of Lansing, IL, passed away on Friday, January 27, 2023 at Valparaiso Senior Village. He was born on September 9, 1944 in Hammond, IN to Donald and Betty (nee Overmeyer) Lenburg. Jan was a 63 year resident of Lansing and made his career as a Hair Stylist for 60 years, most memorably at Mister Jan’s Hair Styling Studio for Men in Lansing. Jan enjoyed singing in the choir at First United Methodist Church. Skiing trips to Colorado and watching classic James Bond movies were always cherished activities.
On August 21, 1965, he married Pamela Stratten, and they were blessed with three daughters who survive: Tina Marie (Scott) Mergenthaler of LaCrosse, IN, Lisa Marie (Donald) Lawrence of St. John, IN, and Tara Lee (William) Scott of Kouts, IN. Also surviving is his sister: Marsha Sobczak of Florida; grandchildren: Jakob (Cheyanne) Mergenthaler, Lukas (fiance’ Shelby Parker) Mergenthaler; Kyle (fiance’ Elizabeth Beiswanger) Mergenthaler, Dana Lawrence and her partner James McCarroll, Brandon Webb and his partner Hailey Anderson, and Emilee Scott, as well as his former wife, Pamela Lindsay of North Carolina.
Family and friends are invited to join Jan’s family for a celebration of his life on Sunday, February 26 from 1:00 - 4:00 PM at Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Rd., Lansing, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Jan’s memory may be made to Dunes Hospice of Valparaiso (www.duneshospicellc.com) or the American Alzheimer’s Association (act.alz.org).
