Janet Elizabeth Hewlett, 100 years old, of Valparaiso, IN, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, August 23, 2025. She was born February 5, 1925, in Bedford, IN to the late George and Eva (Hall) Colglazier. Janet was a member of Vale Church of Christ in Valparaiso. She enjoyed spending time with her family, attending church, and sewing. Janet will be remembered for her loving devotion to her family.
On February 10, 1946, in Mitchell, IN, Janet married H. Robert Hewlett, who preceded her in death in 2001. She is survived by their children: Stephen (Lela) Hewlett of Valparaiso, IN, Lucinda (Curtis) Hart of Memphis, TN, and Julia Ashcraft of Lubbock, TX; grandchildren: Jennifer (Matt) Sullivan, Casee Eisele, Matthew (Rachel) Hewlett, Caleb (Stephanie) Hart, Rebekah (Said) Ghriri, Robert (Ashley) Hart, Amy (Ryan) Smith, Aaron (Rachel) Ashcraft, and Keith (Kristin) Ashcraft; 24 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and brother, Lee Colglazier of Ft. Wayne, IN. She was preceded in death by her siblings: Uzahne Westneat, Norman Colglazier, James Colglazier, and Daniel Colglazier; son-in-law, Douglas Ashcraft; and grandson-in-law, Edwin Eisele.
A visitation will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso. The funeral service will begin on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home, Mark Russell officiating. Burial to follow at Mentone Cemetery, Mentone, IN. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to VNA Hospice NWI.
