Janice Louise Maack, 73, of Valparaiso passed away peacefully at Northwest Health -Porter Hospital on Thursday, December 29, 2022.  She was born on March 26, 1949, in Valparaiso to William and Ella (Bussert) Maack.  Janice was proceeded in death by her parents, sister, Wilma Jean Goodwin, and brother, Leonard Maack.  She is survived by her sister, Phyllis Koch, dear friend, Kathy O’Hara, and several loving nieces, nephews, and friends.
Janice was a lifelong resident of Valparaiso and graduated from Washington Township High School.  She had several jobs as a restaurant worker, a home companion to many seniors, and for seven years worked in the laundry department of Life Care Center in Valparaiso. Janice was very creative and enjoyed painting, crafts, and puzzles.  She also delighted in birds and animals, and was a lifelong learner and a voracious reader. Since 2010, Janice has been a resident of the Supportive Living Program of Opportunity Enterprises in Valparaiso where she enjoyed the various activities and developed many friendships. Janice was a very kind and loving sister, aunt and friend who will be greatly missed. She will be remembered for her passion for family, birds, and the Chicago Bulls.
A visitation will be held Friday, January 6, 2023, from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Moeller Funeral Home, Valparaiso, with funeral service beginning at 11:00 am and burial to follow at Graceland Cemetery.  Masks are required at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Opportunity Enterprises of Valparaiso.
