Janie Frances Leamy, 87 of Portage, passed away Sunday, March 30, 2025. She was born May 10, 1937 in Tennessee, the daughter of William Howard and Frances Allene (Norman) Greenhaw. Janie graduated as salutatorian of the class 1955 from Emerson High School. She owned and operated Zip Foods in Portage before retiring from Pyro Industrial in 2008
Janie is survived by her daughters, Cheryl (Harry) Weyant and Mary Frances Gardner; daughter-in-law, Kathy Leamy; grandchildren, Kayla and Korey “Jake” Brooks and Veronica Gardner; and great grandchildren, River J. and Ocean Brooks. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Fred James Leamy and Richard Barr Tressler; and son, Robert J. Leamy
A private family graveside service will be held at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville.
