Jeanette Ruth (Werner) Rommelmann, age 84, of Valparaiso, passed away Thursday, December 28.  She was born on March 14, 1939 to Elmer and Hulda (Rampke) Werner of Kouts. On April 6, 1963, she married Paul Rommelmann, who preceded her in death, as did her parents and sister, Elizabeth (Werner) Ketchmark. Surviving are four daughters: Sara (Doug) Whitmer of South Bend; Lisa Rommelmann of Valparaiso; Lora (Matt) Dinnon of White Pigeon, MI; and Lila (Brian) Shafer of Aurora, IL; six grandchildren whom she loved dearly: Valerie and Chad (Alex) Whitmer, Jack and Kate Dinnon, and Tyler and Jacob Shafer; her brother Wendell (Betty) Werner of Kouts, and several nieces and nephews. 
Jeanette graduated from Kouts High School in 1957 then became a registered nurse, receiving her degree from Ft. Wayne Lutheran School of Nursing in 1961.  She was employed by Porter Memorial Hospital for 13 years, later returning to the nursing profession for 17 years at the Porter County Health Department.  Jeanette had a passion for helping others and was particularly proud of donating 14.5 gallons of blood to the Red Cross. At a very young age, Jeanette became an accomplished musician on the piano and organ.  She served as an accompanist for church services as well as for numerous students and various groups.  She was an avid and gifted quilter, knitter, seamstress and crafter, and for many years, owned and operated a quilt shop, “Yours in Stitches”. She was a founding member of the String-A-Long Quilt Guild as well as the Kouts Christmas Open House, and very involved in other community organizations. Above all, she was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.          
She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where a visitation will be held on Friday, January 5 from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.  A memorial service will begin at noon.   The church is located at 1700 Monticello Park Drive in Valparaiso.  For those inclined, memorials are preferred to the KHS Memorial Scholarship Fund (P.O. Box 699, Kouts, IN 46347), Immanuel Lutheran Church, or VNA Hospice
