Jerry L. Vanderplough, 76 of Kouts, passed away Thursday, March 14, 2024. He fought the good fight, finished the race, and earned his reward. Jerry was born October 20, 1947 in Gary, Indiana, the son of Louis and Eva V. (Canaday) Vanderplough. A Veteran of the U.S. Army, he made his career as a carpenter working through the Carpenters Union Local 1005. Jerry enjoyed fishing, hunting, and was an avid I.U. basketball fan.
On June 24, 1989, Jerry married Deborah Minton who survives along with their daughter, Jill (Zane) MacLean; stepchildren, Tracina (Nathan) Cross and Scott (Sarah D.) Keats; grandchildren, Victoria, Naomi, Wyatt, Walker, Warren, Waylon, and Kinsley; and niece, Julie Neideffer. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jim Vanderplough; and nephews, Jimmy, Rodney, and Jeffrey Vanderplough.
A Celebration of Life will be held on April 6, 2024 from 1:00-4:00 PM at Cornerstone Community Church 605 S. Maple St., Kouts.
