Jewell William Petz, 83 of Manistique, MI, passed away Monday, October 3, 2022, at Brickyard Healthcare in Valparaiso, IN. He was born June 8, 1939, in Grand Rapids, MI to the late Theodore and Helen (Horvath) Petz. Jewell was a very patriotic man, who loved his country, and proudly served in the United States Navy. He made his career as a Mechanic with Volkswagen in Grand Rapids, before traveling as a Salesman around the country. Jewell and his wife, Barbara, enjoyed traveling together, and even owned and operated a motel in Mackinaw for a while. But Jewell’s place of solace was going to the woods. He loved the outdoors, time spent hunting, and fishing in the rowboat with Barbara. Jewell will be remembered as a captivating orator who engaged audiences with his charismatic personality. He will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by those who knew him.
On August 13, 1960, in Grand Rapids, Jewell married Barbara Jean Biziorek, who preceded him in death in 2013. He is survived by their daughters: Laurie (Ed) Nelson of Valparaiso, IN, Lisa (Len) Winchel of Hudsonville, MI, Lynne (Courtney) Garth of Spring Lake, MI; grandchildren: Katie (Ryan) Babiak and Kasey; and great grandson, Walter.
