Joan E. Corneil, 78 of Valparaiso, passed away on Friday, April 19, 2024. She was born on October 11, 1945 in Valparaiso to John and Lydia (Pfledderer) Horak and graduated from Valparaiso High School. She devoted her life to her family and worked at McGills Manufacturing in Valparaiso. Joan was fond of fishing, spending time with her sisters, and loving on her family and grandkids. Life’s simplicities brought Joan a sense of peace and joy. Her kind heart and genuine nature will be dearly missed.
On April 24, 1965, Joan married Kenneth M. Corneil Jr., who preceded her in death in 2023. Survivors include their children: Kenneth J. (Karen) Corneil, Rebecca Corneil, and Jennifer (Andy) Funk; grandchildren: Joseph Funk, William Corneil, Michael Funk, and Charlotte Corneil; and sisters, Carol Cole and Diane Shell. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Janet Gant.
A visitation will be held on Friday, April 26, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso, with a service beginning at 12:00 PM. Burial to follow at Angelcrest Cemetery, Valparaiso. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the VNA Hospice Center.
