Joan Kay Allie, 75 of Valparaiso, passed away on Friday, October 6, 2023. She was born on May 31, 1948 in Valparaiso, Indiana to William and Virginia Strain and retired from Porter Starke Services as a well-loved receptionist. She spent her years before that working in the banking industry and spending many weekends grilling at Hamlet Golf Course for her nephew. Nobody had quite the quirky and over-the-top sense of humor like Joan had and she often enjoyed shows like Seinfeld, Family Feud, and the movie Step Brothers as well as anything with Adam Sandler or Chevy Chase in it. Joan was full of love and positivity, quickly making friends from strangers while always staying hyper-focused on the well-being and happiness of her children and grandchildren, the people who brought her so much pride and joy every day. You couldn’t catch her in a bad mood and she found a way to put a positive spin on everything, setting an example for everyone in her orbit. Her infectious and unwavering love for her family should be a template for all and she will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her children: Ronda (Tony Smith) Reedy and Sam (Jennifer) Allie; grandchildren: Kayla (Edward) Sulich, Alexzander Smith, Byron Chandler, and Jovo Allie; great-grandchildren: Eliza and Luna Sulich, and her beloved beagle and snuggle buddy, Lilly. She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Virginia; and sisters, Fran Wager and Judy Lippens.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2023 from 10:00 – 12:00 at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Rd, Valparaiso with services starting immediately afterward.
