Joane “Jody” Grieger, 88 of Valparaiso, passed away Monday, January 22, 2024. She was born August 22, 1935 in Andrews, IN to the late Carl and Ruth (Davis) Stephens. Traveling with her husband, Gene on their motorcycle was among the most memorable times in her life, which included spending summers in Montana. Jody also enjoyed flower gardening and spending time at the Indiana Dunes.
On June 7, 1958 in Valparaiso Jody married Gene A. Grieger who preceded her in death in 2010. She is survived by her daughters, Lori (Dan) Lodics and Wendy (Jim) Guth; daughter-in-law, Mary Grieger; five grandchildren, Danielle (Paul) Chen, Brandon (Kelsey) Lodics, Chelsea (Curt) Toppin, Justin Grieger, and Aaron Grieger; and four great grandchildren, Reilly and Graham Lodics and Miles and Lena Toppin. Jody was also preceded in death by her son, Mike and sister, Kris.
The family would like to extend a special heartfelt thank you for the care and love given to Jody and her family to Dunes Hospice, Valparaiso Senior Village, and her care giver, Stephanie Robertson.
Following cremation, a memorial gathering will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Dunes Hospice or the Alzheimer’s Association.
