Joe Harper Blunk, 85 of Valparaiso, passed away peacefully at his home, Wednesday, April 17, 2024.  He was born August 24, 1938 in Spencer, Indiana the son of Artie and Almeda (Norris) Blunk.  Joe worked for 31 years at U.S. Steel and was known for his lawnmower repair shop and for scrapping.  He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Valparaiso, and many friends and family enjoyed hog roasts he hosted.  His fun-loving and soft-spoken personality will be greatly missed by all who love him.
Joe is survived by his former wife and best friend, Mary (nee Tucker) Blunk; daughters, Kathleen (Paul Lucas) Tate and Karen Treece; 11 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; siblings, Georgia Prowant and Eugene Blunk; Son, J. Harper Blunk and 3 Steps daughters; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Keith Blunk; Ex-wife, Charlene (Stowers); grandson, Phillip Treece, Jr.; brothers, Jessie, Ira “Art”, Fred, and Norris; sisters, Mary and Irene; and sons-in-law, Phillip Treece, Sr. and Millard Tate.
Cremation will take place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
