John A. Gallo, 92, of Chesterton, IN, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, July 12, 2025. He was born June 8, 1933 in Buffalo, New York to Hungarian immigrants John & Margaret (Rapolty) Gallo. After high school he served in the U.S. Navy and then returned to continue his education at SUNY Buffalo earning a BA in Business Administration. After a variety of jobs, he made his final career as a Quality Control Engineer with the U.S. Government meticulously overseeing defense contractor production specifications in the Buffalo, New York area. He also loved growing vegetables and flowers and became an expert in the raising of dahlias, in which he took great pride and satisfaction.

John’s top priority was always his family. He was a devoted husband and father to three sons. A man of strong faith, he participated fully in church life, serving as a Sunday school teacher and beloved leader in the Christian Service Brigade. He gave generously of his time and resources to the church, individuals, and many charities.

On July 11, 1959, he married Nicole Villedrouin who survives along with their sons: John W. Gallo, Michael F. (Rebecca) Gallo & Patrick B. (Aileen) Gallo, brother, Joseph Gallo, and grandchildren: Derek (Lisa) von Werder, Ysobel Gallo, Michael J. Gallo, Anna Gallo, Thomas Gallo, Natalie Gallo, Alicia Gallo, Samuel Gallo & Cheryl Gallo. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 half-sisters: Julia Dion & Ethel Wiersbowski.

A visitation will be held Friday, July 18, from 9:30 am - 10:30 am at Liberty Bible Church, 824 N Calumet Ave, Chesterton, with memorial service beginning at 10:30 am, Pastor Ben Polhemus officiating.

Dear Aunt Nicky, Johnny, Michael and Rebecca, Patrick and Aileen, and all, Chris and I are thinking of you and praying for you as you move through this time of celebrating and mourning Uncle John. My heart is with you all and breaks for you. I love you all and remember fondly the times I spent with you and Uncle John as a child, young adult, young mother, and most recently.
