He was born September 19, 1943, in Marathon, Florida to John T. & Rose Monahan and served proudly with the Indiana National Guard during the 1960’s. John made his career with Ozinga Ready Mix for 29 years beginning as a driver and retiring as their Maintenance man. Survivors include their children; Richard Monahan of Chesterton & Susan Perz (Ed Nieves) of Kouts, sister, Rosie Cardwell, grandchildren: Kira Parker, John Moate, Cree Lee & Kyle Brindza, and great-grandchildren: Jacob, Mia, Jackson, Ella, Vera & Addy. He was also preceded in death by his parents and two sisters: Judy Modrak & Aleda Kegebein.
A visitation will be held Thursday, October 31st from 4 – 7 pm at Moeller Funeral Home, Valparaiso. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 am Friday at the funeral home with entombment to follow at Graceland Mausoleum, Valparaiso.
