Joyce E. Rosenbaum, 77 of Wanatah, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 4, 2022 at Aviva Assisted Living surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 17, 1945 in LaPorte to the late Clarence “Bunny” and Cleo (Wing) Spier. Joyce graduated from Stillwell High School in 1963 and from South Bend Beauty School in 1964. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wanatah. As an artistic designer, she got to share her creative talents throughout her life, including working at Lemster’s Flower Shop in Valparaiso.
Joyce enjoyed her many flower gardens and decorating her whole house and yard with Christmas lights. She was also fond of traveling, drives to see the Sandhill cranes, and watching the plethora of birds that would perch on the birdfeeders. As a devoted farm wife, she loved working outside and would help her husband on the family farm. Joyce will be remembered for being the biggest (and LOUDEST) cheerleader at all her grandchildren’s many sporting events, 4-H exhibits, and livestock shows.
On April 4, 1964, Joyce married her high school sweetheart, Robert Rosenbaum, who preceded her in death on October 29, 2022. She is survived by their children, Cary Rosenbaum and Cory (Missy) Rosenbaum; grandchildren: Cheyenne, Colton, and Chase Rosenbaum; brother, James (Jan) Spier; sister-in-law, Mary Jane Bailey; brothers-in-law: Arnold Rosenbaum, William (Gerry) Rosenbaum, and LeRoy “Doc” Koselke; and many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family. She is preceded in death by her parents, and sisters-in-law: Janet Koselke, Peg Sallee, and Nancy Rosenbaum.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at Wanatah Funeral Chapel, 309 N. Main St., Wanatah. A service will be held on Thursday, November 10, 2022 at 12:00 PM at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 15496 S. 900 W., Wanatah, Rev. Joel Steven Zipay officiating, with additional visitation beginning at 11:00 AM. Burial to follow at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery.
