Karen Lynn Sizemore, 52, of Westville passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, November 20, 2025, following a courageous battle with colon cancer. She was born January 16, 1973, in Chicago to Dennis & Mary (O’Hara) Lesko, and graduated from Portage High School in 1992. Karen was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church where she had served as Director of Religious Education for 2 years and sang in their choir. Karen developed a rare heart condition following the birth of her daughter and was blessed to discover her “heart sisters” in a support group that kept each other going well beyond the medical estimates for the disease. She also found strength in her colon cancer support group. Her employment with the Diocese of Gary was quite rewarding for her but never diminished her full-time role as wife and mother, which she relished. Karen cherished the memories of the numerous trips spent with her family to so many wonderful places .
On June 21, 1997, she married Hiram Sizemore, Jr., who survives along with their children: Brandon Sizemore & Katelyn Sizemore, her father, Dennis Lesko, sisters; Jenny (Tim) Murray, Teri Lesko (Chris Campbell), Debbie (Craig) Miller & Amy (Jeremy) Hernandez, and numerous loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins & friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Lesko in 2006.
A visitation will be held Monday, November 24th from 3 – 7 pm at Moeller Funeral Home, Valparaiso. A funeral mass will be held Tuesday, November 25th at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 356 W. 700 N., Valparaiso, Indiana, 46385 beginning at 10:00 am with burial to follow at Angelcrest Cemetery.
