Kathryn “Katie” Cappella, 98 of Valparaiso, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2024.  She was born March 10, 1925 in Calumet City, Illinois to the late, Charles and Rose (Arbic) Mangiaracina.  Making her career as a telephone operator, Katie worked for 26 years at AT&T, retiring in 1979.  She enjoyed attending the Banta Center in Valparaiso, as well as playing cards, dancing, exercising, and shopping.
Katie is survived by her brother, Joe (Ann) Mangiaracina; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews; dear friend, Wayne Parker; and her Banta Center friends.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Cappella and sisters, Cora Schook and Dolores Prange.
Visitation will be held Friday, January 19, 2024 from 11:00 AM-12:00 PM at Moeller Funeral Home 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso with a Funeral Service beginning at 12:00 PM.  A private burial will take place at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso.
