Kay Riley, 80 of Valparaiso, passed away Monday, November 13, 2023. She was born June 24, 1943, in Minot, ND to the late Franklin and Emma (Link) Burrell. Kay graduated from Portage High School, and made her career with Bethlehem Steel until her retirement in 2003. She was a member of the Valparaiso Nazarene Church, had served on the Porter County United Way Board, and held the position as Treasurer of USWA Local 9144. Kay enjoyed playing pinochle, reading, traveling, and spending time with her beloved family.
On June 5, 1981, in Las Vegas, NV, Kay married Frederick G. Riley, who preceded her in death in 2014. She is survived by her children: Sheryl Clem of Knox, Tammy Crandall of Helena, AL, and Jay Crandall of Winamac; grandchildren: Stacy Thompson, Thomas Clem, Meggen (Ryan) McLeod, Brittney (Patrick) Powell, Josh (Brooke) Crandall, Kelsey Crandall, and Jessica (Zachary) Tharpe; 14 great-grandchildren; and siblings: Bob (Sheryl) Burrell, Ron (Jennifer) Burrell, and Sue (Chuck) Epstein. She was preceded in death by two sons: Michael and William; and son-in-law, Tom Clem.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso, with a funeral service beginning at 12:30 p.m. Cremation will follow services. Burial of ashes will take place at Angelcrest Cemetery.
