Kelly Ann Pritchett Hurni, 53 of Valparaiso, passed away suddenly Wednesday, November 29, 2023. She was born October 21, 1970 in Gary, Indiana, the daughter of Michael J. and Pamela J. (Kubiak) Pritchett. A 1989 graduate of Valparaiso High School, Kelly worked for Porter Hospital for 31 years and was currently working at Bulk. She found enjoyment in art, crafting, shopping, gardening, music, playing games, and watching birds. She was an avid Packers, Cubs, and Blackhawks fan. Her true passion was caring for and sheltering animals, especially her fur babies, Sully, Tebes, and Bill. Kelly loved her yearly vacations to Mexico and spending time with friends and family.
On August 24, 2017, Kelly married Steven “Ed” Hurni who survives along with her parents, Michael and Pamela Pritchett; children, Kyle, Christian, and Korren Hurni; grandchildren, Lana and Bonnie; sister, Kristin Wiesjahn, nieces, Lana Wiesjahn and Violet Buckley; mother-in-law, Charlotte Hurni; and her loving dogs, Sully, Tebes, and Bill. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Walter and Jeanne Kubiak and James and Margie Pritchett.
A Memorial Gathering will be held Monday, December 4, 2023 from 4:00-6:00 PM at Moeller Funeral Home 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso, with a time of sharing beginning at 6:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the Porter County Animal Shelter or Lakeshore Paws.

I barely have the words for the sadness I feel for the loss of Kelly. She is gone way to soon. I worked with her for several years at the hospital and she could always make me laugh. I never met her husband but I did have the pleasure of meeting her immediate family and I know how close they were. I am sorry for the pain and emptiness I know they are feeling. I met Kelly in Junior high and we played in sports together Volleyball, basketball and she was so fun always making me laugh. Her sleepover were the best. The thing about Kelly is since I moved away I could come in town and call her to get together and it was as if I had not moved away we could pick up as if it was yesterday.
