Kenneth Watson, 77 of Valparaiso, passed away October 16, 2024. He was born June 14, 1947, in Valparaiso to the late William and Betty (Leffew) Watson. Ken graduated from Washington Township High School in 1965, and received his degree in Business from Purdue University. He proudly served in the United States Army, where he was stationed on the Sandia Base in New Mexico. Ken began his career as a Lineman with GTE, and retired as a Store Manager with Verizon. In retirement, he enjoyed substitute teaching at LaCrosse Elementary and High School. Ken also taught Business classes at LaCrosse for two years. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Valparaiso, where he had served as an usher. He was also a member of the Sunrise Kiwanis Club in Valparaiso, and the Lions Club, in Valparaiso and Kouts. Ken enjoyed coaching softball at Kouts High School and LaCrosse High School, and going fishing. He was a jokester who liked to make people laugh. Ken was also a great problem solver and enjoyed challenges. Above all else though, Ken loved his family, especially his grandchildren. And he looked forward to Peanuts with Pepaw with his grandson, Deacon. He will be remembered for his kind heart and caring nature. Ken will be dearly missed.
On September 19, 1981, at Christ Lutheran Church, Ken married the love of his life, Cheryl Ulozas, who survives, along with their children: Scott (Susan) Watson of Valparaiso, Ryan (Valerie) Watson of Westfield, and Ashley (Josh) Kandel of Morgan Township; grandchildren: Molly, Ian, Zoey, Emmy, Deacon, and Sophie; sister, Jan (Jeff) Bacon; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Foreman.
A visitation will be held on Monday, October 21, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, 2610 N. Campbell St., Valparaiso, with military honors and a funeral service beginning at 3:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Morgan Township Volunteer Fire Department, 291-2 IN 49, Valparaiso, IN 46383, Christ Lutheran Church, 2610 N.
