Kyle Anthony Russell, 66 of Valparaiso, IN, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, July 16, 2024. He was born December 23, 1957, in Gary, IN, to Daniel “Ed” and Dolores (Comer) Russell, as the youngest of 3 children. Kyle graduated from Chesterton High School in 1976 and made his career as a Crane Operator for over 20 years with Ryerson. He also served as a Porter County 4-H Leader and Project Judge of the Bicycle Project. Kyle had worked at The Big Wheel Restaurant in his youth and hoped to go back as a cook for his retirement job. He enjoyed camping and spending time with his beloved family, especially his grandchildren and pets. Kyle will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather, who will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
On October 31, 1987, Kyle married the love of his life, Sandra Barenie, who survives, along with their sons: Kevin (Aleina McGettrick) Russell of Milwaukee, WI, and Jeffrey (Amy) Russell of Chesterton, IN; grandchildren: Charlotte, a grandson due in November, Jaylen, and Bryson; mother-in-law, Anne Barenie; and loving pets, MiaMae and Sophie. He was preceded in death by his parents, and father-in-law, Gerald Barenie.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Road, Valparaiso, with a memorial service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Burial of ashes will follow at Angelcrest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family.
