Lillian T. Korilko, 91 of Minooka, IL, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 12, 2023, with her loving family at her side. She was born July 31, 1932, in Joliet, IL to the late Frank and Josephine (Opara) Zelko. Lil was a devout Catholic her entire life, and attended St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Channahon, where she had been a member of the American Slovenian Catholic Union (KSKJ). In her younger years, Lil also enjoyed traveling and going to lunch with her sisters, shopping, gardening, reading finance literature, and solving crossword puzzles.
After meeting the love of her life, Lil married Louis Korilko, Jr. in January of 1958 in Joliet, IL. Lou’s military career stationed the family in Germany and St. Louis for several years before they returned to Joliet. Lil then made her career with the United States Postal Service in Joliet as a Mail Clerk for 20 years. Lil took great pride in her appearance and rarely had a hair out of place. She was a strong and fiercely independent woman who took care of her home and family with great love. Lil will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who will be dearly missed.
Lil is survived by her son, James (Gail) Korilko; grandchildren: Nicole (Joe) Pollock, Christopher (Angela) Della Rocco, Elizabeth Fourez, Kristina (Andrew) Dewig; and great-grandchildren: Summer and Leo Della Rocco, Reese Pollock, Alex and Wyatt Fourez, Alexis and Anderson Dewig. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Korilko , Jr. in 1992; their son, Thomas Korilko in 2018; brothers: Raymond Zelko, John (Barbara) Zelko, and James Zelko; infant sister, Sylvia Zelko; and sisters: Dolores (Michael) Frankovich and Josephine (Martin) Spanich.
Per Lil’s wishes, no services will be held at this time, and she will be interred with her husband at Arlington National Cemetery.
