Linda Diane Kent, 75 of Valparaiso, IN, and formerly of Oak Forest and Rock Island, IL, passed away on Thursday, December 26, 2024 with her family by her side. She was born on January 7, 1949 in Berwyn, IL to John and Elinor (Allen) Cook. She graduated from Proviso East High School in Maywood, IL and devoted her life to raising her family. You would find Linda enjoying a good crossword puzzle as well as supporting and watching PBS. Her skills and love for her family continued to show through her talents of cooking, baking, and hosting many-a party for any and every occasion! She was very active with her grandchildren and loved to support their endeavors whether near or far. Her resilience and strength through all of life’s challenges, kind heart, and radiant smile will be dearly missed.

On August 1, 1970 in North Riverside, IL, Linda married Jim Kent, who survives, along with their children, Laura Miller of Valparaiso and Randy (Laurie) Kent of Fond du Lac, WI; brother, Ronald Cook of Virginia, MN; grandchildren: Autumn Miller, Evelyn Miller, Tyler Kent, Alaina Kent, and Anna Kent; nephew, John Cook Jr.; nieces, Jennifer Cook and Leann Peterson; and many loving extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Brian Kent; brother, John Cook and his wife Adrienne Cook; and sister-in-law, Chris Cook.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1855 Harrison Blvd., Valparaiso, beginning at 11:00 AM. Memorial donations may be made to Opportunity Enterprises in Valparaiso or the American Lung Association.
