The Reverend Deacon Linda Fay Goble, age 82, a lifelong resident of Valparaiso, passed away Saturday, November 11, 2023.  She was born September 11, 1941 in Valparaiso to the late John P. and Maxine (McNeely) Williams.  A 1959 graduate of Valparaiso High School and National Merit Scholarship recipient, Linda went on to attend MacMurray College in Jacksonville. IL.  She worked as a dental assistant for Dr. L. Howard White, along with other various jobs throughout her career.  A member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, Valparaiso, Linda was ordained as the first woman deacon in the U.S. in the Anglican Rite Synod in the Americas in September of 1990.  Family, friends, and faith were the most important aspects of her life.
On May 21, 1960, Linda married her high school sweetheart (Bishop) Ronald Ray Goble who preceded her in death on November 12, 2011.  She is survived by her children, William Rex Goble, Gregory A. (Linda Wiechnik-Goble) Goble, Ronda F. (William) Cook, and Pamela J. (Randy) Tschida; grandchildren, Geremy (Christy Simpson-Rinker) Rinker, Zachary (Karri) Cook, William Lee (Tara) Goble, Stephanie (Josh) Morrisett, Jason (Michael Beechen) Schroeder, and Wyatt Tschida; great grandchildren, Kaley Beckham, Gavin Goble, Zoey Cook, and Evan and Cormac “Tis Himself” Morrisett; sister, Judith (Robert) Mobley; brother-in-law, William E. Davis; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.  She was also preceded in death by siblings, John Dennis Williams, Barbara Davis, and Karen (Randy) Taylor.
Visitation will be Monday, November 13, 2023 from 3:30-5:30 PM at Moeller Funeral Home 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso, with a Funeral Service beginning at 5:30 PM.  A private graveside service will take place at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to Moses Caregivers,  693 Dearborn Rd., Valparaiso 46385.
