Loren Charles Dzur, 85 of LaCrosse, formerly of Liberty Township, passed away Saturday, April 16, 2022. He was born March 24, 1937, on the homestead farmhouse in Valparaiso to George and Eva (Schrock) Dzur. Loren attended Liberty Central School in Liberty Township. At the age of 16, Loren started his career as a 3rd generation dairy farmer, which he did for 50 years. He regularly worked 14–16-hour days in the fields and the dairy barn. Loren hired many of the neighborhood kids to work on his farm and helped teach them a good work ethic. Growing up, he showed pigs in 4-H for 12 years. Loren was a member of Farm Bureau and attended the Church of God of Prophecy in Portage. He enjoyed taking trips to Wisconsin to snowmobile with friends, and trips to California to visit his brother. You could often find Loren taking country cruises or swinging on the front porch. He had a gift as a captivating storyteller and could always keep company entertained. Loren will be remembered as a loving and caring man, who was a devoted husband and father. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
On April 27, 1996, Loren married Christine Oden, who survives, along with their daughter, Laura Dzur of Alabama; and sister-in-law, Diane Dzur of California. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Dzur; sister, Helen Dzur; and nephew, Joel Dzur.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. at Kosanke Funeral Home, 105 E. Indiana Ave., Kouts, with a funeral service beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Chesterton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the LaCrosse Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 178, LaCrosse, IN 46348. The Dzur family would like to extend a special thanks to the LaCrosse Volunteer Fire Department for the respectful assistance and dignified care they gave to Loren.
