Manuel Siao Urgino, 72 of Valparaiso, passed away Wednesday, January 19, 2022.  He was born June 27, 1949 in Manila, Philippines to Franciso and Dolores (Siao) Urgino. Manuel was a very goal orientated man, wanting a better life for his family. He graduated from Mapua Institute of Technology Philippines and began his mechanical engineering career at Philippines Blooming Mills and was sent to Japan for steel making, with the goal of eventually moving his family to the United States. Manuel achieved his goal by hard work, grit, and determination, moving to the U.S. to find work and two years later bringing his family here with him.  He worked for 43 years as a mechanical engineer, first at PBM Steel, then Bethlehem Steel in the U.S., and retired from Mittal Steel. Manuel was a great storyteller, an ardent do it yourselfer, a fine ballroom dancer at social gatherings, and enjoyed taking photographs.  He absolutely loved music of all kinds, but his forte was classical music and was an avid fan of opera.

Manuel is survived by his loving wife, Minda and their children, Norman (Colleen) Urgino, Mayumi Urgino, and Isagani (Jennifer) Urgino; and his siblings, Remedios (Felizardo) Jimenez, Lito (Edith) Urgino, Tessie Urgino, Cary (Mapette) Urgino, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Dr. Mercedita Urgino.

Private Family Services will be held at Moeller Funeral Home, with interment of ashes at St. Paul Catholic Cemetery, Valparaiso.
