Marie E. Mink, 80 of Valparaiso, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, May 25, 2025. She was born June 14, 1944, in Gary, IN, to the late John and Edith (Cox) Jurs. Marie graduated from Lowell High School, Class of 1963. She made her career as a Certified Nursing Assistant with Regional Nursing Home in Dyer and Colonial Nursing Home in Crown Point. Marie enjoyed spending time in the bowling alley, watching her grandsons bowl and socializing with her friends. She also liked to work jigsaw puzzles and showcase her incredible crafting skills through decorative wreaths. Marie had a friendly demeanor and a loving heart. She will be remembered as a devoted and caring wife, mother, and grandmother.
On May 20, 1992, Marie married Jim Mink Sr., who survives, along with her daughters: Lori Kaiser of Lowell, and Amy Cox of Valparaiso; stepchildren: Christine Mink, Robin (Kevin) Perrotta, and James Mink Jr.; grandchildren: Kyle, Austin, and Jacob; step-grandchildren: Jonathan, Douglas, Kimberly, Kristen, and Christopher; 8 step great grandchildren; and siblings: Carol Adelsperger, Cathy Navarre, and Don Jurs. She was preceded in death by her sister, Judy Nelson.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, June 1, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso. The funeral service will begin on Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Graceland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
