Marilyn Jean Van Keppel, 83 of Valparaiso, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 19, 2023. She was born May 24, 1940, in Valparaiso to Walter and Kathryn (Barneko) Sievers. Marilyn graduated from Valparaiso High School in 1958. She made her career as an Insurance Agent and Administrative Assistant with her family’s business, Sievers Insurance, for over 50 years. Marilyn was so beloved by her clients that they would often stop in to pay their bill just to talk with her. She was a member of Heritage Lutheran Church and Tri Kappa. Marilyn enjoyed gardening, cooking, and sporting events, but her true enjoyment came from taking care of her family. She looked forward to holidays with the family every year and was known to be generous with the gifts she showered on her children and grandchildren. Marilyn will be remembered for her selflessness, loyalty, and dependability. She was loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who will be dearly missed.
On July 22, 1961, in Valparaiso, Marilyn married C.W. “Van” Van Keppel, who preceded her in death in 2019.
