Marlene A. Wright, age 89, died peacefully at her home in Union Mills, on Thursday, November 30, 2023, after a brief battle with Cancer. She was born on May 8, 1934, in Lacrosse, Indiana to Rainard and Aurilla (Sheely) Tucker. She was a graduate of Lacrosse High School in 1952. On January 7, 1954, she married Richard T. Wright who preceded her in death in 1973.
In addition to being a remarkable Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Great-Great Grandmother, and Mother-in-Law, Marlene worked for TP Laboratories for over 20 years. A lifelong resident of Laporte County, Marlene enjoyed reading, traveling, attending her children’s and Grandchildren’s sporting events, and participating for nearly 60 years in “Birthday Club” with a very special group of lady friends. She loved the Holidays and celebrating them with large gatherings of family and friends. She cherished the chaos, noise and laughter that were always a part of these celebrations. An avid Chicago Cubs fan, Marlene followed them faithfully on television, and over the years, attended several games at Wrigley Field with her family. She was treated to one final Cub’s game, this past year, by her daughter, Joni, Granddaughter, Brooke and Great Granddaughter, Haylee.
In addition to her husband, Marlene was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, William Tucker.
Marlene is survived by her son, Richard (Vicki) Wright of Milford, Ohio, daughter, Beth (Joe) Nehl of Union Mills, Indiana, son, Gene (Karen) Wright of Carthage, Missouri, daughter, Joni (Doug) Keehn of Kouts, Indiana, daughter, Patti Wright of Union Mills, Indiana and son, Greg (Tammy) Wright of Union Mills, Indiana.
In addition to her children, Marlene is survived by her 22 Grandchildren: Charity Donnelly, Timothy Wright, Kimberley Wolterman, Allison Back, Nicholas Nehl, Jill Cavinder, Chasidy Cavanna, Samantha Wright, Courtney Wright, Crystal Edwards, Jessica Wright, Ryan Wright, Andrew Wright, Jennifer Sivard, Christopher Wright, Brent Keehn, Brooke Busse, Holly Nichols, Lee Younggreen, Jordan Wright, Brittany Ames, and Morgan Bollman.
She is also survived by her 43 Great Grandchildren: Grace, Charlie, Persephone, Conall, Kolten, Noah, David, Marlee, Jack, Wyatt, Jaxson, Jace, Uriah, Addyson, Braydon, Chase, Conner, Madelyn, Owen, Gracie, Charlotte, Ashlynn, Lexie, Lucas, Blake, Kinsley, Jairo, Eduardo, Antony, Estaban, Abraham, Kamryn, Cohen, Haylee, Bryce, Maci, Griffin, Cooper, Breckyn, Reed, Weston, Grant, and Avery. Great-Great Grandchildren: Abbigail and Beckham.
A funeral service celebrating Marlene’s life will take place on Monday 1:00 P.M. at Bethel Presbyterian Church – 110 Hamilton Street, Union Mills, Indiana. For those wishing to pay their respects, a visitation will begin at 11 AM Monday prior to the funeral. Burial will take place at Hanna Cemetery immediately following the funeral service.
