Mary Ann Smith, 77 of Valparaiso, passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2025, as a result of a car accident. She was born May 20, 1948, in Port Austin, MI, to the late Peter and Christine (Zimpkoski) Klosowski. Mary made her career with McGill’s in Valparaiso for over 20 years. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandsons. Mary would spend hours playing with her grandsons at the kitchen table with homemade play dough when they were young. She was an amazing cook who was known for her cheesecake. Mary will be remembered as the most loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She had a heart of gold and a selfless nature that will live on in the lives of those she touched while she was here. Mary will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
On September 2, 1967 in Bad Axe, MI, Mary married Michael Smith, who preceded her in death in 2019. She is survived by their sons: Greg (Christina) Smith and Christopher Smith, all of Valparaiso; grandchildren: Zachary (Destinie) Smith and Ryan Smith; brothers: John Klosowski and Robert Klosowski; and brother-in-law, Roy Jennings. She was preceded in death by her sisters: Violet Jennings and Josephine (Paul) Ottinger.
Per Mary’s wishes, following cremation no services will be held.
