Mary Ellen Johns, 92 of Olney, IL and formerly of Valparaiso, passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2024. She was born March 9, 1932 in Kouts, IN to Leander Roscoe and Rebecca (Morris) Minton. Mary was attending Bible Fellowship Church in Olney, IL. For those that knew her well, would understand that she enjoyed loud noises and bright lights. Mary enjoyed traveling, collecting thimbles from each state she visited, and most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
Mary is survived by her daughters, Vicki Nickells and Marti (Robert) Christopher; stepdaughter, Terri Corniel; grandchildren, Thomas (Shari) Thomas, Chadd (Jennifer) Christopher, Brandon (Jessica) Christopher, and Brooke (Zachary) Martin; great grandchildren, Tara (Jonathan) Titsworth, Katlyn (Joshua) Shipman, Luke Thomas, Joshua Thomas, Maximus Dippo, and Emsley Martin; and great-great grandchildren, Alister, Melody, Leeland, and Samuel. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, William Pelton and Ralph Johns; son, Nicky W. Pelton; and eight siblings.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 2, 2024 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Moeller Funeral Home 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso, with a Funeral Service beginning at 12:00 PM. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bible Fellowship Church 1318 E. Hall St., Olney, IL 62450.
