Mary Grose, 92 of Valparaiso, Indiana, formerly of Gary and Merrillville, Indiana, passed away May 25, 2023, with her loving daughter Carrie by her side. A 1947 graduate of Emerson High School, she attended Indiana University and worked at the Gary Tube Mill prior to her career as a homemaker. Mary was a member of SS. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church.
Mary is preceded in death by Carl Grose, her ever devoted husband of 66 years; parents Evdoxia & Orestes Kehayia; brother George Kehayia; sister Anne Kehayia; and infant son David. She is survived by her daughter Carolyn “Carrie” (Tom) Higgins; grandsons Tommy (Meghan) and Hayden (Olivia); and great grandchildren Tommy, Mia, Holden, and Hayden Higgins.
Amazing YiaYia to her grandsons and her great-grandchildren, Mary would do anything to make them happy and spoil them. Mary loved entertaining, playing bridge with “the bridge girls” and other friends, traveling with Carl, and cooking traditional Greek dishes.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, May 30th at 10:00 a.m. at SS. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Merrillville, Indiana. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. prior to Mass. Burial to follow at Ridge Lawn Cemetery in Gary, Indiana.
