Michael John Syron, 81 of Valparaiso, passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2022. He was born on September 6, 1941 in St. Louis, Missouri to the late Vincent and Virginia (Moll) Syron. Michael proudly served his country in the United States Marines from 1960 to 1964. He obtained his degree in Mechanical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis and made his career as a chief estimator for D.A. Dodd for 15 years. He was a friend of Bill W. for over 29 years. Michael was a voracious reader--- reading anything and everything from textbooks to the 2nd World War and Civil War.
On September 2, 2000, Michael married Sherry Bare, who survives along with his children: Jane (Michael) Hayes, Jeffrey (Angela) Syron, Jill (Keith) Fort, Robert (Sarah) Fiedler, and Matthew (Jacqueline) Syron; 9 grandchildren; and siblings: Virginia Syron, Kevin (Teresa) Syron, Eileen (Richard) Korb, and James (Teresa) Syron. He was preceded in death by his brother, John Syron.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Portage Recovery Association or the 5th Street Club in Wheeler.
