Nancy Jean Stiegman, 90 of Chesterton, passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2023. She was born February 6, 1932 in Gary, IN, to the late Andrew and Lorraine (Schubert) Fejes. Nancy grew up in what was then East Gary and graduated from Edison High School in 1950. The importance of education she passed on to her children, ensured that all her children received college degrees. When it came to family camping trips, she was the organizer and planner plus the first to hike the trails or throw in a line. She spent many of her Friday and Saturday nights as a proud supporter of her children and grandchildren in their athletic endeavors. Nancy unwittingly became good at playing cards and enjoyed a good game of Uno or Go Fish with her grandchildren. As the matriarch of the family, she kept things running, showing unwavering support and love for her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be dearly missed.
On January 6, 1956, Nancy married Lou K. Stiegman, who preceded her in death in 1984. She is survived by her children: Lisa Moser, Jeff Stiegman, and Susan (Terry) Tillett; beloved sister, Sally Radivan; grandchildren: Ethan Moser, Teran (James) Strickland, Tessa (Peter) Robbins, and Toni (Zach) Langhans; great-grandchildren: Benjamin and Annie Strickland and Hazen Robbins; nieces and nephews: Sally Hatala, Laurie Gerometta, Todd (Jessica) Radivan, Jessica Hatala, and Tony (Bailey) Hatala; and friend and neighbor, Danny. She was preceded in death by her parents; second husband, Virgil Loar, with whom she shared her twilight years; and son-in-law, Mike Moser.
There will be no services at this time. Memorial donations may be made to the Porter County Animal Shelter in Nancy’s name.
