Natalie Roseann Matthes, 39, of Valparaiso passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2022. She was born on August 11, 1982 in Rhinebeck, New York to John and Nadine (Mooney) Matthes. She graduated from North Judson-San Pierre High School in 2000. Her life’s greatest ambition for which she prided herself above all else and maintained fiercely with an unmatched passion was the contribution to, and achievement of, a well-lived life. The focus of this wonderful worldview that she never deviated in practice was best exemplified in the manner she loved her three children.
Natalie will be fondly remembered for her selfless and generous qualities that made her endearing to all who ever crossed her path in life. Natalie had to be seen to be understood. With everyone she met, she made their struggle her own and in doing so created extended family wherever she went. Natalie was forever a mother, sister, and friend to everyone she crossed paths with. Her loss is immeasurable to the people who knew her.
Her three children are her dearest family; Hannah Marie Talaga, Rhodes Julien Talaga, and Vivienne Angel Nicole Talaga. Her siblings include Robert Matthes of Lafayette, Rebecca Galyk of Tennessee, Charles (Julie) Matthes of Kouts, Jennifer Matthes of Lafayette, Bridget (Keith) Matthes of Florida, John Jr. (Katie) Matthes, of New York, Ellen (Robert) Wroblewski of Valparaiso, Kit (Sarah) Matthes of Valparaiso, and Frederick (Ashley) Matthes of Indianapolis. She was preceded in death by her forever loved, cherished, and remembered parents, her sister Clarissa Matthes, and brother Matthew Matthes.
A visitation will be held Friday, April 8, 2022, from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at Moeller Funeral Home in Valparaiso, Indiana. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM Saturday directly at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1855 Harrison Blvd., Valparaiso. Rev. Doug Mayer will be officiating with burial to follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Kouts Indiana. Memorial donations made to the family will be used for the children’s education.
