Nick H. Prassas, 84 of Valparaiso, IN, passed away Saturday, April 18, 2026. He was born February 22, 1942, in Karnassion, Greece, to Haralambos and Eleftheria (Tsomis) Prassas. Nick was an owner and chef at the Oasis Truck Stop and Pantheon Restaurant in Portage for many years. He was also a member of St. Iakovos Greek Orthodox Church in Valparaiso. Nick will be remembered as a hard worker, and a generous man with a quiet demeanor. Nick will be dearly missed by his family. May his memory be eternal.
Nick is survived by his brother, Leo (Angie) Prassas; sisters-in-law: Crystal Prassas, Maria Prassas, and Popi Prassas; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers: Stavros “Steve” Prassas, George Prassas, and Sam Prassas; and 3 sisters: Eugenia Koutroumanis, Christina Psihogios, and Anthie Skourlis.
A visitation will be held on May 5, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Iakovos Greek Orthodox Church, 36 W. 700 N., Valparaiso, IN, with a funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m., Father James Greanias officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Valparaiso. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to assist in covering funeral expenses.

Deepest condolences the family. I first remember meeting Nick at the Pantheon in Portage back in 1985 when I was dating his nephew Big Harry. He was so kind & accepting of me . He and my ex Harry always stayed in touch as much as possible Harry always loved talking to his Uncle Nikko!!! Now they can talk up in Heaven for eternity. God rest their souls. -Agnes Prassas
