Nick John Kilavos, 58 of South Bend, IN, formerly of Valparaiso, IN, passed away Thursday, June 29, 2023. He was born February 23, 1965, in Denver, CO to John and Despina “Penny” (Anast) Kilavos. Nick graduated from Valparaiso High School and attended Purdue Northwest. He established his career as a Laboratory Technician with the Orville Redenbacher Plant, and the Elden Kuehl Pollution Control Facility. Nick was an avid sports fan, who loved cheering for the Chicago Cubs and Bears. He will be remembered for his lighthearted spirit and fun sense of humor. Nick will be dearly missed.
Nick is survived by his son, Dean Nicholas Kilavos of Valparaiso, IN; former spouse, Lorri Kilavos of Valparaiso, IN; and brother, Tom Kilavos of Kewanna, IN; aunts: Lela Platt and Katina Anast; and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Constantine “Dean” Kilavos.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 17, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Iakovos Greek Orthodox Church, 36 W. 700 N., Valparaiso, IN. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery.
