Nola J. Wegman, 95, of Valparaiso passed away peacefully at home on Friday, October 13, 2023. She was born November 14, 1927 in Chicago, Illinois to Arthur & Carolyn (Tucker) Wegman. Nola received a B.A., M.A., and PhD. from Northwestern University, and went on to serve as a professor of English at Valparaiso University for 38 ½ years retiring in 1992. She was a longtime member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church where she proudly wrote and taught the curriculum for newcomers and confirmands, served as editor of “The Crier” newsletter, and participated as a Lector. Nola also volunteered at the VNA Hospice Center for 25 years.
Nola was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Arthur Wegman and one sister, Ruth Wegman. She is survived by a circle of close friends and an array of her church family members.
A visitation will be held Sunday from 1- 2 pm at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 505 Bullseye Lake Rd., Valparaiso, with funeral a service beginning at 2:00 pm. Memorial donations may be made to St. Andrew’s Church or the VNA Hospice.
