Patricia Ann Olson, 84 of Chesterton, IN, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family on Monday, August 4, 2025. She was born May 26, 1941, in Valparaiso, IN, to the late Elmer and Marjorie (Gentz) Johnson. Pat graduated from Liberty High School in 1959, and received her bachelor’s degree in Christian Education from Wheaton College. She passionately served as a Missionary with her husband, Dan, for 17 years in Romania, where they started and supported the “House of Hope” Children’s home, (under “Kid’s Alive.”) Pat was a member of Liberty Bible Church and participated in the Missionary Care Group there. She was also a talented artist who enjoyed painting ceramics and making jewelry, and sharing her musical gifts through piano and organ playing. Pat was a loving, faithful, and considerate person, who was a prayer warrior, with a compassionate heart. She will be remembered as a godly and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, who will be dearly missed.
On June 15, 1963, at Liberty Bible Church, Pat married Ralph Daniel Olson, who survives, along with their children: Eric (Elaine) Olson of Omaha, NE and Tricia (Jay) Drew of Chesterton, IN; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Philip (Sandy) Johnson; sister, Peggy Trowbridge-Blink; sister-in-law, Dee Dee Johnson; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Bruce Johnson; and infant grandson, Micah Olson.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Liberty Bible Church, 824 N. Calumet Ave., Chesterton, with a funeral service beginning at 10:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Chesterton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Pat’s name to Liberty Bible Church or Fundatia Denisa Dobrun, Romania.
