Patricia E. “Pat” Lane, 82, of Valparaiso, passed away Friday, November 7, 2025. She was born October 28, 1943, in Valparaiso to Clarence W. and Meriam G. (Anderson) Hurley and graduated from Valparaiso High School in 1961.

Pat built a career in Chicago working for an advertising agency, where her creativity, humor, and curiosity stood out. She was a vibrant and outgoing woman who loved spending time with friends and family. Pat never missed a gathering. She was dependable, warm, and always arrived ready to connect with the people she cared about. She enjoyed traveling, exploring new places, and keeping her mind active with word puzzles, games, and crosswords. Her beloved feline companion, Belle, brought her comfort in her later years.

On August 22, 1987, she married Lawrence N. Lane, who preceded her in death on May 9, 2018. Survivors include her stepson, Col. Peter J. (Yonghui) Lane, U.S. Army Retired, of Germany, and grandsons Hunter and A1C Jacob Lane U.S.A.F. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her brother, John Hurley.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, November 18th from 9:30–11:00 am at Valparaiso First Presbyterian Church, 3401 Valparaiso St., with a funeral service beginning at 11:00 am, Rev. Kimber-lee Adams officiating. Private burial will take place at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church or Dunes Hospice.

Pat, you have been part of my life for as long as I can remember. Childhood, adolescence, college, marriage and now as I settle into "senior" life. You have been loyal to each member of our immediate family, extended family, adopted family - always the big sister and faithful, loyal friend. Larry Lane was the love of your life and you spent so many happy years of life's adventures together as husband and wife. I am sure he is overjoyed to welcome you to your heavenly home. Pat -- we had may great times together in Chicago in the '70s and talking back and forth after each of us had been married. Thanks for baby-sitting our daughters when we lived in Chicago. and thanks for all the great conversations we had after you and Larry were married an we had moved to GA.
