Patricia Jean Hertaus (Patty),66 of Valparaiso passed away peacefully on August 22, 2023, in her home surrounded by loved ones after a brief battle with cancer. She was born August 19.1957 in Hammond IN to William and Eilene(Stone) Comstock. On Nov 6, 1976, Patty married Richard Hertaus who survives with their daughters Jessica(Ryan) Reagor, Amber(Todd) Porter, Cora(Chris)Anderson, and her 7 grandchildren Kayle, Grace, Drew, Aidan, Brady, Peyton, and River. She was married to her high school sweetheart for just shy of 47 years, and together they made a beautiful life.  Patty was a caring and faithful soul, filled with compassion, strength, optimism, and above all selflessness. She enjoyed spending time with her daughters and grandkids. She loved to garden in her spare time, listen to music, and take as many family vacations as possible.  She was gifted with a new chance at life after receiving a Double Lung transplant on June 10, 1993. With that gift, she was able to be the wife and mother she always hoped to be. To know Patty was to love Patty. 
Visitation will be held Monday, August 28, 2023 from 3:00-7:00 PM at Moeller Funeral Home 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso, with a Funeral Service on Tuesday, August 29th at 11:00 AM.  Following services, cremation will take place at Angelcrest Crematory.

I remember Patty growing up, she was always so sweet and happy. I was so saddened to hear of her passing. I will always remember her smile and her laugh.
