Patrick Paul Corneil, 76, a lifelong resident of Valparaiso, IN, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, February 8, 2025. He was born on October 31, 1948, in Valparaiso to Edward and Lucille (Fox) Corneil. Pat began his lifelong career with the Valparaiso Street Department at age 18, following in his father and brother’s footsteps. He was a dedicated employee and retired after 48 years of service. During his working years, Pat would often mow lawns or do yard work as side jobs around the city, which seemed more like a hobby since he took such pride in it and admittedly enjoyed it.

Patrick was a hardworking family man who instilled strong values in his children and grandchildren. His family was his pride and joy, and his greatest role in life was being “Papi”. Pat showed unconditional love to his family and friends. He was a man you could count on, and he never hesitated to help anyone in need. Pat enjoyed simple pleasures like fishing, a cup of strong black coffee, and a beer with anyone who was buying! He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

On February 14, 1980, Patrick married the love of his life, Peggy Ann Werner. At the time, Patrick had three daughters already, which Peggy loved as her own, and together they had four more children. Pat is survived by his children: Donna (David) Boykin, Stacey (Paul) Carrera, Gean (Rich) Rennier, Shane (April) Corneil, Jayme (Cody) Corneil, Lindsy (DaVon) Cundiff, and Cody (Brittany) Corneil; along with 18 beloved grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; “older” brothers: David Corneil and Philip Corneil; many loving nieces and nephews; and his dog, Lilly. He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Corneil; father, Edward Corneil; mother, Lucille Voiorl; and brother, Ronald Corneil.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso, with a funeral service beginning at 3:00 p.m. Cremation will follow with interment of ashes at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Kouts. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the VNA of NWI or the family.
